Gram-negative coccobacilli. Non-motile. Non-sporulated.
Colonies on nutrient agar are circular, convex, smooth and slightly opaque. Aerobic.
Non-haemolytic on horse blood agar. Growth occurs at 37 ºC, but not at 41 ºC.
Isolated from activated sludge in Victoria, Australia.

Positive results for utilization of: Tween 40, Tween 80, methyl pyruvate,
succinic acid, cis-aconitate, trans-aconitate, 4-aminobutyrate, malonate, L-arginine,
L-aspartate, DL-aspartate, L-histidine and L-phenylalanine.

Negative results for oxidase, gelatin hydrolysis, utilization of: m-inositol, lactulose, alpha-D-lactose, L-fucose, D-psicose, D-raffinose,
D-sorbitol, D-trehalose, turanose, xylitol, D-galacturonic acid lactone, D-glucosaminic acid, D-glucuronic acid, L-ornithine, D-serine,
L-serine, thymidine, L-alanyl glycine, glycyl-L-aspartic acid, glycyl-Lglutaric acid, inosine, uridine, thymidine, DL-alpha-glycerol
phosphate, glucose 1-phosphate,  glucose 6-phosphate, pimelate, adipate, azelate, citrate, glutarate, oxoisocaprate, suberate,
beta-alanine, L-glutamate, L-leucine, L-tryptophan, L-leucinamide, 4-hydroxybenzoate, phenylacetate and quinate.
Acid is not produced from glucose, D-sucrose, D-mannitol, dulcitol, salicin, D-maltose, D-trehalose, methyl beta-D-xyloside and
m-erythritol.
