Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 1.4-3.0 x 0.4-0.8 µm, motile by means of peritrichous flagella.
Form terminally or centrally  ellipsoidal endospores, not swelling the sporangium.
Colonies are white and circular. Species utilize butyrate as carbon source for growth.
Grow aerobically, at pH 5.0-9; optimal growth is observed at pH 9. NaCl is not
required for growth. Grow in 0 and 1% NaCl; no growth in 2% NaCl. Temperature
range 15-45 ºC. Allantoin or urate are not required. No growth on MacConkey agar.
Isolated from a soil sample obtained from Tagata-gun, Shizuoka, Japan.
Exhibits a deodorizing effect on animal faeces (deodorize the bad smell generated
from short-chain fatty acids).
