Description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-variable, motile rods, 0.5–0.6 x 1.0–2.5 μm, single cells or pairs.
Produce ellipsoidal spores positioned terminally in swollen sporangia.
Colonies are convex with undulated margins and light yellowish-white, spreading as
single colonies over the entire plate. Aerobic; no anaerobic growth. Grow in TSB and
on TSA. Mesophilic, growth temperature 20 to 37 ºC, no growth at 40 ºC. Grow at
6.8-12.0 pH and in 2.5% NaCl, but not in 3% NaCl media.
Isolated from a warm-spring water sample from a reserve forest (inhabited by wild elephants and other animals) in Assam, India.
Can grow in the presence of 0,001% lysozyme but not 0,01% lysozyme.

Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, aesculin, hydrolysis, gelatinase, oxidase, starch hydrolysis, acid production from:
amygdalin, cellobiose (weak), D-glucose, glycerol, glycogen, beta-gentiobiose, mannose, maltose, ribose, sucrose (weak), starch
and trehalose (weak).
Negative results for caseinase, citrate utilization, DN-ase, dihydroxyacetone, H2S production, indole production, lysine decarboxylase,
methyl red test, nitrate reduction, ONPG, ornithine decarboxylase, phenylalanine deamination, Tween 80, 40 and 20 hydrolysis,
tryptophan deaminase, degradation of tyrosine, urease, Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from: adonitol, D- or L-arabinose, L-
arabitol, arbutin, dulcitol, fructose, galactose, inositol, inulin, lactose, D-mannitol, melezitose, melibiose, raffinose, rhamnose, salicin,
sorbitol, sorbose, xylitol and D-xylose.
