Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram positive rods, 0.3-0.4 x 2.0-3.0 µm. Motile by peritrichous flagella. Produce
ellipsoidal spores located subterminally in the swollen sporangium.
Colonies are circular to slightly irregular and cream-coloured. Grows at 20-40 ºC
(optimum 37 ºC), at pH range 8-10 (optimum at around pH 9-10). Can grow in 12%
(w/v) NaCl, but not in 15% NaCl.
Isolated from soil.

Positive results for catalase, cellulose hydrolysis, nitrate reduction, starch hydrolysis of Tween 20, 40 and 60 hydrolysis, acid
production (without gas) from: arbutin, cellobiose, D-fructose, D-glucose, D-lactose, D-maltose, maltotriose, D-mannose, salicin,
sucrose, D-trehalose and turanose.
Negative results for caseinase, gelatinase, indole production H2S production, oxidase, acid production from: L-arabinose, L-fucose, D-
galactose, inositol, inulin, D-mannitol, D-melezitose, D-melibiose, palatinose, D-psicose, D-raffinose, D-rhamnose, D-ribose, D-
sorbitol, stachyose, xylitol and D-xylose.
