Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, rod-shaped, 0.6-0.9 x 1.2-1.8  µm. Endospores are produced. Motile
by one flagellum.
Colonies are pale yellow, circular and smooth. Growth occurs at 10-50 ºC (optimum,
37 ºC), at pH 6.0-9.5 (optimum, pH 8.0) and in 0-10% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 2% NaCl).
Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from sediment samples of the South China Sea.

D-tagatose, trehalose, turanose, alpha-ketovaleric acid, L-alanine, adenosine, glycerol, 2-deoxyadenosine, inosine and thymidine.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, citrate utilization, H
2S production, indole production, lysine decarboxylase, methyl red test,
nitrate reduction, ornithine decarboxylase, starch hydrolysis, urease, and Voges-Proskauer test, acid production from: D-adonitol,
amygdalin, D- and L-arabinose, L-arabitol, cellobiose, erythritol, D- and L-fucose, beta-gentiobiose, gluconate, glycogen, inulin, 2-
