Species description is based on a single strain.
Gram-variable rods, 03-0.5 x 2.0-6.0 µm, motile by peritrichous flagella. Produce
terminal, ellipsoidal endospores in swollen sporangia.
Colonies are circular and white. Grows at 10-40 ºC (optimum at 37 ºC), at pH
8-11(optimum pH 10). Can grow at an NaCl concentration of 12% (w/v), but not at
15%.
Isolated from soil, Japan.
