Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive or Gram-variable in older cultures, rods, 1.3-1.6 x 2.5-4.0 µm. Motile by
a single polar flagellum.  Produce round to ellipsoidal endospores, located centrally
or subterminally in slightly swollen sporangia.
Colonies on marine agar 2216 are smooth, glistening, circular to slightly irregular, flat
to raised, light orange-yellow in colour and 2-3 mm in diameter after 3 days
incubation. Growth occurs at 4 ºC; maximum growth temperature is 39 ºC.

ptimal pH for growth is 7.0-8.0; no growth occurs at pH 4.5. Optimal
growth occurs in the presence of 2-3% (w/v) NaCl. Growth occurs in the presence of
15% NaCl, but not 16% NaCl. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from a marine solar saltern in Korea. Resistant to 100 U/ml lysozyme.
