Description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, 0.6 x 2.5-3 µm, motile rods. Produce subterminally, ellipsoidal
endospores in unswollen sporangia
Colonies are round and white. Strictly anaerobic. Show respiratory growth As (V)
(arsenate) and nitrate as electron acceptors. Grows at ph 7-8.4 and 28-37 ºC. Grows
in 0.12% - 3% NaCl.
Isolated from arsenic-contaminated mud from a gold mine in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.
