Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods (Gram-variable in older cultures), 0.6-0.8 x 1.5-3.5 µm, motile by a
single polar flagellum. Form ellipsoidal, central / subterminal endospores in swollen
sporangia.
Colonies are pale yellow, smooth, circular to slightly irregular, slightly raised, 2-4 mm
in diameter after 3 days at 30 ºC on marine agar. Growth is observed at pH 4-9
(optimum pH 6-8); temperature 10-45 ºC (optimum 30-37 ºC). NaCl, allantoin or urate
are not required for growth. Grows in 2-15% NaCl medium. Aerobic.
Isolated from sea water of a tidal flat of the Yellow Sea in Korea.
