Gram-positive, motile (a single polar flagella) rods, 0.5-0.7 x 2.0-3.0 µm. Produce
subterminal / terminal, ellipsoidal endospores in swollen sporangia.
Colonies are yellowish white, 2-3 mm in diameter after 2 days incubation on TSA.
Grow at pH 6-8 (optimum pH 7), in 0-5% NaCl media and at 15-50 ºC (optimum 30
ºC). Aerobic, facultatively anaerobic. NaCl, allantoin or urate are not required for
growth.
Isolated from cotton-waste composts in Suwon, Korea. No growth in the presence of lysozyme.

Positive results for catalase, hydrolysis of esculin, hydrolysis of urea, hydrolysis of gelatin, hydrolysis of starch, nitrate reduction, acid
production from L-arabinose, D-glucose, D-mannitol and D-xylose.
Negative results for degradation of tyrosine, deamination of phenylalanine, egg yolk reaction, oxidase, indole production, hydrolysis of
casein, Voges-Proskauer reacton and citrate utilization.
