Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, short rods with rounded ends, occurring singly or in pairs. Motile.
Produce ellipsoidal endospores located centrally in a swollen sporangium.
Colonies grown at 30 ºC on Nutrient Agar are translucent with regular margins and
convex elevation, non-pigmented and do not display UV fluorescence. The colony
surface is oval in appearance. Growth occurs at 15-42 ºC (optimal 30 ºC), at pH 5-11;
(optimum pH 7.0) and in 2-10% (w/v) NaCl. Does not grow in medium supplemented
with lysozyme (0.001%). No growth on MacConkey agar. Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from compost at the University of Delhi South Campus, New Delhi, India.
Susceptible to streptomycin, tetracycline, clindamycin, lincomycin, cefradine, erythromycin, vancomycin, fusidic acid, cefotaxime
and levofloxacin. Resistant to kanamycin, chloramphenicol, oleandomycin, novobiocin, bacitracin and polymyxin B.

cellobiose, cyclodextrin, dulcitol, D-galactose, glycerol, glycine, glycogen, myo-inositol, inulin, lactose, mannose, mannitol,
melezitose, methyl alpha-D-mannoside, methyl alpha-D-glucoside, methyl D-xyloside, methyl alpha-D-glucopyranoside, maltotriose,
palatinose, rhamnose, ribose, sorbose, sorbitol, D-tagatose, xylitol and xylose.
Putrescine is not assimilated.

Contradictory results for urea hydrolysis and acid production from salicin.
