Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods,  0.5-1.2 x 1.2-1.9 µm. Motile by one polar flagella. Produce
ellipsoidal endospores, terminally located in swollen sporangia.
Colonies are cream, smooth, slightly raised and circular on Marine Agar. Grows at
15-50 ºC (optimum, 35 ºC), pH 5.5-9.0 (optimum, pH 7.5) and with 0-12% (w/v) NaCl
(optimum, 2-5%). Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from a solar saltern in the Tae-An area of Korea.

Positive results for catalase, nitrate reduction, N-acetylglucosaminidase, oxidase, starch hydrolysis, tyrosine degradation, acid
production from: D-fructose, D-glucose, maltose, inositol, D-mannitol, D-mannose, D-melibiose, D-raffinose, sucrose, trehalose, and
D-xylose.
Can utilize: potassium gluconate and malic acid.

Negative results for caseinase, gelatinase, indole production,  xanthine and L-hypoxanthine hydrolysis, tryptophan, decarboxylase,
Tween 80 hydrolysis, acid production from: adonitol, L-arabinose, glycerol, lactose, L-rhamnose, and  D-ribose.

Variable results for aesculin hydrolysis, citrate utilization and urease.
