Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 1.3-1.6 x 2.2-2.6 µm. Motile by peritrichous flagella. Produce
central, elliptical endospores. Sporangia are not deformed (admin note).
Colonies on LB medium are off-white, circular, non-translucent and 2-3 mm in diameter
after incubation at 32 ºC for 48 h. Growth occurs at 15-45 ºC (optimum 30 ºC), at pH 5-9
(optimum pH 6) and with 0-9% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 0-0.5%). Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from sediment of the South China Sea.
