Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 0.5-0.6 x 1.8-2.0 µm. Motile by subpolar flagella. Produce central /
paracentral endospores only slightly deforming the cells.
Colonies are cream-white circular, non-translucent and 2-3 mm in diameter after
incubation at 32 ºC for 48 h on LB medium. Growth occurs at 8-45 ºC (optimum 30-37
ºC), at pH 5-11 (optimum pH 6-9) and with 0-12 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1-3 %). Strictly
aerobic.
Isolated from aquaculture water of a shrimp farm of Zhangzhou, China.

Can utilize (API 20 NE): D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, N-acetylglucosamine, trisodium citrate, malic acid and
potassium gluconate.

Negative results for cystine aminopeptidase, alpha-fucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha-galactosidase, alpha-glucosidase, H2S
production, indole production, lysine decarboxylase, nitrate reduction, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, ornithine decarboxylase,
trypsin, tryptophan deaminase, acid production from: D-adonitol, D-arabinose, D- and L-arabitol, dulcitol, erythritol, D- and L-fucose,
gluconate, glycogen, 2- and 5-ketogluconate inulin, inositol, lactose, D-lyxose, maltose, raffinose, D-sorbitol, starch, turanose,
L-rhamnose, L-sorbose, melezitose, methyl D-glucopyranoside, methyl alpha-D-mannoside, methyl beta-D-xyloside, xylitol and
L-xylose.
No utilization of adipic acid, capric acid, maltose and phenylacetic acid.
