Gram-positive rods of various shapes, forming a branched structure with ‘Y’ at the
both side. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, smooth, opaque, 1.0-2.0 mm in diameter after 3 days of
anaerobic incubation on TPY agar. Non-haemolytic. Can grow at 22-48 ºC, optimally
at 37 ºC, not at 20 ºC. Grows at pH 4.0- 8.0, optimally at pH 7.0. Can grow under
aerophilic and microaerophilic conditions.
Isolated from faeces of an adult cotton top tamarin.

D-fructose, D-galactose, gentibiose, gluconate (weak), D-glucose, glycogen, 5-ketogluconate (weak), lactose, D-lyxose, maltose,
D-mannitol (weak), D-mannose, melibiose, methyl alpha-D-glucopyranoside, N-acetylglucosamine (weak), raffinose, D-ribose, salicin
(weak), D-sorbitol, starch (weak), sucrose, trehalose, turanose and D-xylose.
Negative results for alpha-arabinosidase, catalase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, indole production, nitrate reduction, oxidase, urease,
