Gram-negative rods. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are moist or smooth. Grows on MacConkey agar and on BCSA where turn
the medium either alkaline or acidic. Growth is observed at 30 and 37 ºC. Variable
growth at 42 ºC. Non-pigmented. Non-haemolytic. Aerobic.
Isolated from sputum of cystic fibrosis patients, blood samples from non-cystic fibrosis patients and from soil and water.

Positive results for nitrate reduction, lysine decarboxylase, beta-galactosidase, oxidase,
acid production from: glucose, sucrose, maltose, lactose and xylose.
Can assimilate  glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, D-gluconate, caprate, adipate, L-malate,
citrate and phenylacetate.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, esculin hydrolysis, ornithine decarboxylase, tryptophanase and urease.
No assimilation of maltose.

Variable results for gelatin liquefaction and acid production from adonitol.
