Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Betaproteobacteria, Order Burkholderiales, Family Burkholderiaceae, Genus
Caballeronia,
Caballeronia concitans (Peeters et al. 2016) Dobritsa et al. 2017.

Old synonym:
Burkholderia concitans Peeters et al. 2016.
Gram-negative rods with rounded ends, ~ 1 μm in length, occuring as single units or
in pairs. Non-motile.
Colonies on trypticase soy agar after 48h incubation at 28 ºC are round, about 1 mm
in diameter, smooth, shiny, non-translucent, with entire margins and a white-creamy
color. Grows on MacConkey agar. Growth occurs at 15-28 ºC (the type strains can
grow at 37°C) and at pH 6-7 in nutrient broth at 28 ºC. Grows aerobically (anaerobic
growth not tested).
Isolated from human lung tissue and from human blood in the USA.
Undetermined.

Description is based mostly on API 20 NE and API ZYM results.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, C4 and C8 lipase, leucine arylamidase, oxidase,  phosphoamidase,
Tween 60 hydrolysis and valine arylamidase.
Can utilize glucose, arabinose, mannose, mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, gluconate, malate and phenylacetate.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase casein hydrolysis, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, gelatin liquefaction,
alpha-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, indole production, C14 lipase, alpha-mannosidase,
N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, nitrate reduction, starch hydrolysis, Tween 80 hydrolysis, trypsin, chymotrypsin, urease and
fermentation of glucose.
No  utilization of maltose, caprate and adipate.

Variable results for cystine arylamidase (type strain is negative) and utilization of citrate (type strain is weak).
