Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods,  0.7-0.8 x 1.6-3.8 μm. Motile by a single flagellum. Produce poly-
beta-hydroxybutyrate.
Colonies are irregular and milky coloured on R2A medium. Grows well on chitin
basal medium, R2A and nutrient agar (NA; Difco). No growth  trypticase soy agar
(TSA; Difco) or MacConkey agar (Difco). No diffusible pigments are produced. Growth
occurs at 10-40 ºC, 0-1 % NaCl and pH 5-8. No growth at 42 ºC.
Isolated from greenhouse soil cultivated with cucumber in Sangju Province, Korea.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, casein hydrolysis, chitin hydrolysis, alpha-galactosidase, gelatin
hydrolysis, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8) leucine arylamidase, nitrate reduction, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, oxidase,
starch hydrolysis and tyrosine hydrolysis.
Can assimilate D-glucose, D-maltose, D-mannose, glycogen, L-histidine, L-serine, valeric acid, 3-hydroxybutyric acid and L-proline.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, carboxymethylcellulose hydrolysis, DNase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, indole
production, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, alpha-mannosidase, urease, valine arylamidase, cystine arylamidase,
trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase and glucose fermentation.
No assimilation of D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, L-arabinose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, trisodium citrate,
phenylacetic acid, malic acid, lactic acid, sucrose, L-rhamnose, D-ribose, inositol, itaconic acid, suberic acid, sodium malonate,
sodium acetate, L-alanine, potassium 2- and 5-ketogluconate, 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, salicin, D-sorbitol, D-melibiose, L-fucose,
propionic acid and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid.
