Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods, 0.6–0.8 x 2.2–4.2 μm, capsular with a flagellum and motile by
gliding.
Colonies on nutrient agar are shiny, green and circular with regular, smooth edges
and are 1-2 mm in diameter after incubation for 48 h at 37 ºC. Grows at pH 4-10
(optimum 7-9) and at temperature 15-39 ºC (optimum 37 ºC). NaCl is not required for
growth but can tolerate NaCl concentrations up to 1% (w/v). Aerobe. Flexirubin-type
pigments are not produced. Produce a green pigment.
Isolated from a lake water in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China. Resistant to ampicillin, cefobid, clindamycin, metronidazole and oxacillin.
Sensitive to carbenicillin, cefalexin, cefazolin, cephradin, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, cotrimoxazole, erythromycin, gentamicin,
kanamycin, minomycin, neomycin, norfloxacin, novobiocin, ofloxacin, penicillin G, piperacillin, polymyxin B, rifampicin, streptomycin,
sulphafurazole, tetracycline, trimethoprim, vancomycin and vibramycin.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, acetoin production, chitin hydrolysis, beta-glucosidase (esculin hydrolysis), gelatin
hydrolysis (API 20 NE, API 20 E), esterase (C4) (weak), lipase (C14) (weak), leucine aminopeptidase, alpha-chymotrypsin, trypsin,
naphthol-AS-Bl-phosphoamidase, valine arylamidase, acid production from aesculin-ferric-citrate, maltose, starch, glycogen,
potassium 5-ketogluconate, arabinose, glucose, mannitol, inositol, sorbitol, rhamnose, melibiose, sucrose and amygdalin.
Can assimilate D-glucose and maltose.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, casein hydrolysis, cystine arylamidase, esterase lipase (C8), alpha-fucosidase,
beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, gelatin hydrolysis (positive in API 20 NE
and 20 E), H2S production, indole production, lysine decarboxylase, alpha-mannosidase, ornithine decarboxylase, starch hydrolysis,
tryptophan deaminase and urea hydrolysis.
No assimilation of L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic
acid, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid.
