Formosimonas limnophila Chen et al. 2017, type species of the genus.

Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods,  0.3-0.4 x 0.6-1.2 μm. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming. No poly-
beta-hydroxybutyrate accumulation.
Colonies are translucent white, convex, round and smooth with entire edges, 0.5-0.9
mm in diameter on R2A agar after 48 h of incubation at 25 ºC. Growth occurs at 10-37
ºC (optimum, 20 ºC), at pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 6.0) and with 0-1.0% NaCl
(optimum, 0%). Aerobic. Grows well on R2A agar, weakly grow on nutrient agar, but
not on trypticase soy agar or LB agar.
Isolated from a freshwater sample collected from the Lotus Lake in Sun Yat-sen University, Kaoshiung County, Taiwan.
