Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, acid and alkaline phosphatase, catalase, esculin hydrolysis, beta-galactosidase,
beta-glucosidase, esterase lipase (C8), naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, leucine arylamidase and urease.
Can assimilate adipate, L-malate, phenylacetate, salicin, L-fucose, D-sorbitol, propionate, histidine, 2-ketogluconate, L-proline,
rhamnose, inositol, DL-lactate, L-alanine, L-serine, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, D-glucose, D-gluconate, L-malate, mannitol and
mannose.
Negative results for alpha-chymotrypsin, cystine arylamidase, chitin hydrolysis, casein hydrolysis, DNase, esterase (C4),
alpha-fucosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, indole production, lipase (C14), nitrate reduction, trypsin, alpha-galactosidase,
alpha-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase, oxidase, starch hydrolysis, tryptophanase, Tween 80 and
valine arylamidase.
No growth in O-F medium with D-glucose.
No assimilation of caprate, citrate, D-melibiose, valerate, 3-hydroxybutyrate, 3-hydroxybenzoate, 4-hydroxybenzoate, D-ribose, sucrose,
itaconate, suberate, acetate, 5-ketogluconate and glycogen.

Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-negative rods, 1.5-2.0 x 0.3-0.6 μm. Motile by unipolar polytrichous flagella. Non-
sporeforming.
Colonies on R2A are circular, convex and cream-coloured. Temperature range for
growth is 25-42 ºC; no growth occurs at 45 ºC. Optimal growth temperature is 25-30
ºC. Growth occurs in the absence of NaCl and in the presence of 1.5% (w/v) NaCl, but
not above 3.0% (w/v) NaCl.
Isolated from soil from a ginseng field in South Korea. Resistant to ampicillin (20 μg) and tetracycline (5 μg). Sensitive to kanamycin
(1 μg) and streptomycin (5 μg).
