Gram-negative straight rods. Non-motile. Nonspore-forming.
No production of fluorescent pigment or other pigments. Grows on blood agar at 30
ºC, but not on Drigalski agar, on blood agar at 37 ºC or on nutrient agar at 42 ºC.
Haemolysis of horse blood is not observed. No growth on cetrimide agar (most
strains), on 10% lactose medium, in the presence of acetamide or in the presence of
0.5, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 or 6.0% NaCl.
Isolated from moss (Aulacomnium palustre) gametophytes in northern Germany. The type strain is susceptible to penicillin; the other
known strains are resistant. Plant-growth promoting.
Undetermined. May have antagonistic activity against Verticillium dahliae, Rhizoctonia solani, Candida albicans, Xanthomonas
campestris, and Phytium ultimum.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphatase, leucine arylamidase, phosphoamidase & Tween 80 hydrolysis. Weak activity of
esterase C4, ester lipase C8 and chymotrypsin.
Can assimilate D-glucose, trehalose, L-arginine, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, maltose, D-gluconate, caprate, L-malate,
phenylacetate, sucrose, DL-lactate, DL-lactate with methionine, DL-norleucine (weak results occur) and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine
(weak results occur).
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, amylase, catalase, DNase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, alpha-
and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase,
H2S production, indole production, lipase C14, lysine decarboxylase,nitrate reduction to nitrite, denitrification, ornithine decarboxylase,
oxidase, urease, valine arylamidase, cystine arylamidase and trypsin.
No acid production is observed in O/F medium with D-glucose, maltose, adonitol, D-fructose or D-xylose as carbon source.
No assimilation of adipate and citrate.
