Gram-negative rods.
Colonies on agar media produce iodine crystals, and the presence of L-threonine or
glycine in the medium seems to enhance pigment synthesis.
Acidophilic, the optimal pH for growth is 5.0. May not grow at pH 7.0. Aerobic.
Isolated from soil after an enrichment using L-threonine as the sole carbon source.
