Paraburkholderia sprentiae
|
Positive results for arginine dihydrolase, catalase, beta-galactosidase, oxidase, acetoin production, starch hydrolysis and tryptophan
deaminase (weak reaction).
Can assimilate trisodium citrate, D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetylglucosamine, potassium gluconate,
malate, phenylacetic acid, acetate (weak), L-histidine, L-alanine, L-serine, 2-ketogluconate and 5-ketogluconate (weak).
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, gelatinase, beta-glucosidase (esculin hydrolysis is positive in Choi's study), H2S
production, indole production, nitrate reduction to nitrite, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, protease, urease (positive in
Choi's study), acid production from D-glucose, D-mannitol, inositol, D-sorbitol, L-rhamnose, sucrose, melibiose, amygdalin and
L-arabinose.

Old synonym: Burkholderia sprentiae De Meyer et al. 2013.
Gram-negative rods, 0.9 x 3.0 μm. Motile.
Colonies are white, smooth, round, 0.5-4.0 mm in diameter and convex with entire
margins on half-strength LA medium after 24 h of incubation. Growth is visible on
half-strength LA medium between 10 and 40 ºC. Growth is visible in nutrient broth
with 0-10% NaCl and pH 4.5-9 at 28 ºC.
Isolated from root nodules of Lebeckia ambigua from the Western Cape of South Africa.
Resistant to ampicillin and penicillin, intermediate sensitivity to gentamicin and sensitive to chloramphenicol, kanamycin,
streptomycin and tetracycline.
Undetermined.
