Gram-negative curved rods, 0.6-0.8 x 0.8-1.8 μm. Non-motile. Nucleoids are present
inside cells.
Colonies grown on NSY agar are unpigmented, circular and convex with smooth
surface. Growth temperature 15-30 ºC; no growth at 5 or 35 ºC. NaCl is not required
for growth. Maximum NaCl concentration tolerated is 0.3% (w/v).  Aerobic, facultatively
anaerobic under denitrifying conditions.
Isolated from the water column (pelagic zone) of Crystal Bog Lake in Wisconsin, USA.
