Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Epsilonproteobacteria, Order Campylobacterales, Family Campylobacteraceae,

Gram-negative, slightly curved rods. Coccoid cells are observed in some cultures.
Motile. Non-spore-forming.
After 72h culture at 37 ºC under microaerobic conditions on anaerobe basal agar
(ABA) -blood, colonies are glistening, opaque, convex, and circular with entire
margins and are 1-2mm in diameter. No alpha-haemolytic activity. Growth occurs on
ABA-blood at both 37 and 42 ºC under microaerobic conditions and at 37 ºC under
anaerobic conditions. No growth on ABA-blood at 30 ºC under microaerobic
conditions or at any temperature under aerobic conditions. Growth is supported on
ABA-blood with a final NaCl concentration of 2% (w/v) and on ABA-blood
supplemented with 1% (w/v) glycine. Most strains grow on ABA-blood supplemented
with 0.04% TTC.
Isolated from the feces of cattle and feral swine. Resistant to 30mg / l cephalothin and 30mg / l nalidixic acid.

Positive results for nitrate reduction, oxidase and selenite reduction.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, hippurate hydrolysis, indoxyl acetate hydrolysis, triphenyltetrazolium chloride reduction and
urease.
