Gram-negative, slightly curved rods, 0.2-0.4 x 1.4-2.0 μm. Motile by a single polar flagellum. Non-spore-forming. Non-encapsulated.
After growth on modified agarized Arcobacter medium medium at 30 ºC for 3 days, colonies are small, translucent and beige to
whitish. Grows well at 25-37 ºC (optimum 30 ºC) on modified agarized Arcobacter medium, Arcobacter selective isolation agar, CCDA,
MacConkey agar and TSA + 1% glycine. No growth at 42 ºC. No alpha-haemolysis was observed on blood agar.
Isolated from  pig  and dairy cattle manure, Ontario, Canada.
Resistant to cefoperazone (64 mg / l).

Positive results for catalase, esterase,  indoxyl acetate hydrolysis, nitrate and nitrite
reduction, oxidase, TTC reduction and Voges-Proskauer test.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, L-arginine arylamidase, L-aspartate
arylamidase, alkaline phosphatase, citrate utilization, gelatin hydrolysis, H
2S
production, hippurate hydrolysis, gamma-glutamyltransferase, beta-galactosidase,
lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, sodium
succinate assimilation, tryptone deaminas, indole production and urease.
No acid production from: amygdalin, arabinose, D-glucose, inositol, melibiose,
mannitol, rhamnose, sorbitol and sucrose.
