Gram-negative, curved rods, 0.3-0.5 x 1.2-3 µm. Coccoid cells were observed in old cultures. Swarming on solid media was noted.
Non-encapsulated. Non-spore-forming.
After incubation on Columbia agar + 5% sheep blood in a microaerobic atmosphere
at 37 ºC for 48 h, colonies are glossy, slightly convex, round with smooth margins.
Pigments are not produced. Grows on blood agar at 37 ºC and at 42 ºC under
micro-aerobic cconditions (does not require H
2) and at 37 ºC in anaerobic conditions.
No growth was observed at 37 ºC on aerobiosis and at 25 ºC under microaerobic
conditions. No haemolysis on blood agar. Can grow on glycine 1%.
Isolated from faecal samples of wild birds, Chile.
Undetermined.

Positive results for catalase and urea hydrolysis.
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, hippurate hydolysis, H
2S production on
TSI, indoxyl acetate hydrolysis and oxidase.
Variable results for  esterase, nitrate reduction and  triphenyltetrazolium chloride
(TTC) reduction.
