Gulbenkiania indica
Colonies on nutrient agar are smooth, mucoid, round and cream-coloured,  1.5-2 mm
in diameter. Growth occurs at 15-45 ºC, optimally at 30–37 ºC. Can grow in pH 5.0-
11.0. Can grow on on MacConkey agar. Can grow in 1.0 % (w/v) NaCl but not in 2%
NaCl. Aerobic. No anaerobic growth in the presenceof nitrate.

Gram-negative, straight rods, 1.1 / 2.3 μm. Motile by means of a single polar
flagellum. Spores are not formed.
Isolated from a sulfur spring in Orissa, India.
Resistant to streptomycin (10 μg/ml). Susceptible to kanamycin (50 μg/ml), neomycin (30 μg/ml), chloramphenicol (30 μg/ml),
tetracycline (15 μg/ml), nalidixic acid (20 μg/ml), rifampicin (20 μg/ml) and ampicillin (40 μg/ml).
