Gram-positive pleomorphic short rods, 1.0-1.5 x 0.6-0.9 µm. Non-spore-forming.
Non-motile. Tuberculostearic acid is absent. Mycolic acids are present.
Colonies on TSA after 3 days of incubation under aerobic conditions at 30 ºC are
about 2 mm in diameter, white, entire-edged and shiny. On Columbia blood agar
colonies are about 2 mm in diameter, white, entire edged and shiny. Non-haemolytic.
Can grow at 42 ºC, but not at 20 ºC.
Isolated from a bulk milk tank of a dairy farm in Germany.

Most biochemical reactions were determined by API Coryne, API 50CH, and API ZYM.
Fermentative metabolism.
Positive results for catalase, esterase lipase, beta-glucuronidase, pyrazinamidase,
acid production from: L -arabinose, D-arabitol, fructose, glucose at 42 ºC and 37 ºC, mannose, ribose, sucrose and trehalose.
Negative results for acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, beta-galactosidase, gelatin hydrolysis, alpha- and beta-glucosidase,
alpha- and beta-galactosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, lipase (C14), oxidase, pyrrolidonyl arylamidase, starch hydrolysis,
trypsin, urease, acid production from: adonitol, amygdalin, D -arabinose, cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol, fucose, galactose, gentiobiose,
gluconate, 2 or 5-ketogluconate, glycogen, inositol, inulin, lactose, lyxose, maltose, mannitol, melezitose, melibiose, raffinose,
rhamnose, sorbitol, sorbose, starch, tagatose, turanose, xylitol and xylose.
Variable results for nitrates reduction.
