Gram-positive pleomorphic rods, 0.5-1.5 µm. Non-motile. Non-sporulated. Mycolic acids are not present.
Colonies are convex, diameter 2 to 4 mm, glistening, and butyrous; produce an apricot
orange pigment. Grows on NBY medium, CNS medium and tetrazolium chloride
medium. Aerobe. Optimal growth at 24-28 ºC. Can grow at 10 ºC, but not at 37 ºC.
Isolated from plants.
Pathogenic, obligate parasite of various flowering plants. Host specificity: wheat (Triticum aestivum).
