Budvicia,
Budvicia aquatica, Bouvet et al. 1985, type species of the genus.
Gram-negative, motile rods. Produce peritrichous flagella when grown at 22 ºC; less
motile at 36 ºC. Is more active biochemically at 25 ºC.
Grows slowly on nutrient agar, forming colonies only about 0.1 mm at 24 h, 36 ºC;
colonies are five times larger when grown at 30 ºC for 24 hours. Grows on laboratory
media including MacConkey agar.
Isolated from surface waters,intestinal tract of freshwater salmonid fish & human feces. Resistant to penicillin, ampicillin & cephalothin.
None, uncertain clinical significance. No evidence that it is a pathogen for plants or animals.

Voges-Proskauer, phenilalanine, gelatinase, growth on KCN media, malonate utilization, Esculin hydrolysis, acetate utilization,
deoxyribonuclease, lipase, acid production from:myo-inositol, D-sorbitol, sucrose, melibiose, cellobiose, dulcitol, glycerol,  maltose,
D-mannose, alfa-methyl-D-glucoside, raffinose, salicin, trehalose, D-adonitol and erythritol.

Variable results for acidification of D-mannitol,dulcitol and tartrate.
