Phylum Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Class Gammaproteobacteria, Order Enterobacterales, Family Erwiniaceae, Genus Erwinia,
Erwinia endophytica Ramirez-Bahena et al. 2016.
Gram-negative rods, 0.8-0.9 x 1.5-1.7 μm, occuring mostly in pairs. Motile. Non-spore-
forming.
Colonies on nutrient agar are circular convex, beige, translucent, 2.0-2.5 mm in
diameter after 2 days growth at 28 ºC. Grows at 5-35 ºC, and at pH 4.5-10. Can grow
at 0-6 % (w/v) NaCl in nutrient broth. No diffusible fluorescent pigment is produced on
King B medium. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from the stems of potato plants (Solanum tuberosum L.) cropped from soil in Salamanca, Spain.

L-rhamnose, salicin, sucrose, trehalose, turanose, xylitol, and D-xylose.
Can assimilate in API 20 NE: glucose, gluconate, L-arabinose, mannose, mannitol, malate, N-acetylglucosamine, maltose and citrate.
Can assimilate in Biolog GN2: dextrin, Tween80, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, L-arabinose, cellobiose, D-fructose, L-fucose, D-galactose,
