Gram-negative rods. Motile.
Grows optimally at 28 ºC in LB medium (10 g tryptone, 5 g yeast extract, 10 g NaCl,
15 g agar per litre of medium). Forms colonies within 24 h. Causes maceration of
potato tuber slices and, when on grown at 28 ºC on CVP medium, forms pits within
48 h.
Isolated from freshwater river Verdon, close to the confluence with the river Durance in France.
Tests on potato showed that the six studied strains were able to macerate potato tuber slices.

gentiobiose, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, D-glucose-6-phosphate, sucrose, D-fructose-6-phosphate, mucic acid, L-rhamnose,
D-aspartic acid, malic acid, acetic acid, L-serine, D-saccharic acid, bromosuccinic acid, L-galactonic acid lactone, citric acid,
L-glutamic acid, and sodium butyrate.
