Gram-negative rods, 0.8-0.9 x 1.2-2.0 μm. Non-capsulated. Nonspore-forming. Motile
by means of one or two lateral flagella.
Colonies grown on nutrient agar at 30 ºC for 2 days are pale beige to pale reddish
yellow. Fermentative. Abundant growth occurs at 20 to 34 ºC and at pH 6.0 to 7.5.
Growth occurs at pH 5.0-9.0. Nicotinic acid or nicotinamide are required for growth.
Facultatively anaerobic, but anaerobic growth is weak.
Isolated from soil in Japan.
