Gram-positive rods, 0.7-1.03 x 1.65-3.41 µm. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, circular to slightly irregular, smooth, 1.8-2.0 mm in diameter after
4 days incubation at 28 ºC on MRS agar. Can grow at 15-45 ºC, at pH 3.3-8.0. Grows
in 5% NaCl, but not in 8% NaCl. Microaerophilic.
Isolated from a Bobal grape must.

Description is based mostly on API 50 CHL results.
Positive results for esculin hydrolysis, fermentation of amygdalin, arbutin, cellobiose, D-fructose, gentiobiose, glucose (wihout gas
production), gluconate (wihout gas production), maltose, mannose, melezitose, melibiose, ribose, salicin, sucrose, trehalose, and
N-acetylglucosamine.
Negative results for arginine deamination, catalase, fermentation of adonitol, D- and L-arabinose, D- and L-arabitol, dulcitol, erythritol,
esculin, L- and D-fucose, galactose, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, glycerol, glycogen, inositol, inulin, lactose, D-lyxose, mannitol, methyl
alpha-D-glucopyranoside, methyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside, raffinose, rhamnose, sorbitol, L-sorbose, starch, D-tagatose, turanose,
xylitol, D- and L-xylose, methyl beta-D-xylopyranoside, and methyl alpha-D-xyloside.
