Gram-positive rods, 0.8-1.1 / 2.1-7.3 μm, occurring singly or in pairs. Non-motile.
Nonspore-forming.
Colonies are ivory, white, opaque, slightly umbonate, irregular, glistening, 1-2 mm in
diameter after incubation on MRSFCFa agar (MRS with 20 g/l fructose, 0.1% L-cysteine
and 1 mg/l folic acid) under anaerobic conditions. Grows at 23-40 ºC, optimally at 30 ºC,
at pH 4.5-7.0, optimally at pH 7.0 and in 0-3% NaCl, optimally in 1% NaCl. Very poor
growth aerobically. Fructophilic. Grows only with apple juice or acid folic
supplementation.
Isolated from the sugarbag bee (Tetragonula carbonaria), an Australian stingless bee species.
Undetermined.
