Homotypic synonym: Secundilactobacillus kimchicus (Liang et al. 2011) Zheng et al. 2020.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive slender rods, 0.3-0.8 x 1.0-2.0 µm , occurring singly, in pairs or in short
chains. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on MRS agar are white, convex, smooth with entire edges, 0.8-1.5 mm in
diameter after 2 days at 37 ºC. Facultative anaerobe. Grows at temperature range
15-45 ºC (optimally at 37 ºC), pH range 6.0-7.0 and in 4-8% NaCl. No growth at pH 5,
pH 8 or in 9% NaCl.
Isolated from kimchi collected in Korea.
Undetermined.
Heterofermentative.
Description is based mostly on API 50 CHL (bioMerieux) results.
