Gram-positive rods 0.7-0.8/1.3-3.0 µm. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, opaque, raised, moist, 1-3 mm in diameter after 48 hours of
incubation on MRS agar at 27 ºC under aerobic conditions. Grows at 18-39 ºC (27 ºC
optimum), pH 4.0-8.0 (pH 6.5 optimum) and 0-4.0% NaCl. Facultatively anaerobic.
Isolated from koso, a traditional Japanese sugar-vegetable fermented beverage, Japan.
Undetermined.
