Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive rods, 0.7 x 1.0-10.0 µm, occurring singly, in pairs or in short chains.
Nonmotile. Asporogenous.
After anaerobic growth at 37 ºC for 72 h, colonies on MRS agar are circular, 1.0-2.0
mm in diameter and beige with a smooth or rough surface. Facultatively anaerobic.
Can grow at 10 ºC, but not at 45 ºC. Range of pH 4.0-8.5. Weak growth in 5% NaCl; no
growth in 8% NaCl.
Isolated from faeces of a 100-year-old elderly female person in Okinawa Japan.
