Gram-positive rods, 0.4-0.6/2.0-3.4 µm, occurring singly, in pairs and in short chains.
Motile by polar flagella. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies are white, rubbery and bright, 1 mm in diameter after 6 days of incubation at
28oC on MRS agar. Grows at 15-45 ºC. No growth in 5% NaCl. Grows at pH 3.7-8.0.
Facultative anaerobic.
Isolated from a ropy natural cider, in Spain.

Description is based on API 50 CHL results.
Positive results for the fermentation of arbutin, D-fructose, galactose, glucose (without gas production), lactose, maltose (weakly),
mannose, methyl alpha-D-mannopyranoside, salicin, sucrose, D-tagatose, and trehalose.
Negative results for arginine hydrolysis, catalase, esculin hydrolysis,
fermentation of adonitol, amygdalin, D- and L-arabinose, D- and L-arabitol, cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol, esculin, L- and D-fucose,
gentiobiose, gluconate, 2- and 5-ketogluconate, glycerol, glycogen, inositol, inulin, D-lyxose, mannitol, melezitose, melibiose, methyl
alpha-D-glucopyranoside, methyl alpha-D-xyloside, raffinose, rhamnose, ribose, sorbitol, L-sorbose, starch, turanose, xylitol, D- and
L-xylose, N-acetylglucosamine, and methyl beta-D-xylopyranoside.
