Phylum Bacillota (Firmicutes), Class Bacilli, Order Lactobacillales, Family Lactobacillaceae, Genus Limosilactobacillus,

Gram-positive rods, 1.5-2.0 µm. Non-spore-forming. Motile.
Colonies are smooth, white to grey, flat, small, 0.5 mm in diameter after 2 days of
anaerobic incubation at 37 ºC on Columbia agar supplemented with 5% sheep blood.
Grows at 30-40 ºC, optimally at 37 ºC. Grows at pH 5.0-7.5 and in 0-3% NaCl media.
Microaerophilic.
Isolated from urine of healthy women.

Species can be differentiated from Limosilactobacillus portuensis by L-arabinose fermentation and weak activity of esterase lipase and
naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase.
Positive results for acid phosphatase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8) (weak), alpha-galactosidase, beta-galactosidase, leucine
arylamidase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase (weak).
Negative results for alkaline phosphatase, cystine arylamidase, catalase, alpha-fucosidase gelatin hydrolysis, alpha-glucosidase,
beta-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, lipase (C14), alpha-mannosidase, oxidase, trypsin,
