psychrochitiniphilus Wang et al. 2009.
Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cells, showing a rod-coccus cycle. Motile. Non-spore-forming.
Non-capsulated.
Colonies are yellow, circular and convex, in Luria Bertani medium incubated at 20 ºC.
Grows at 0-25 ºC (optimally at 20 ºC), at pH 6.0-8. and in the presence of 0-3% (w/v)
NaCl. Aerobic. Grows on lactose or chitin as the sole carbon source.
Isolated from the guano of Adelie penguins, Antarctica.
Sensitive to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, kanamycin, streptomycin and tetracycline.
Undetermined.
