Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci or short rods. Non-encapsulated. Endospores are not formed.
Colonies are circular, convex, smooth, entire and cream-coloured. Growth occurs at
15-40 ºC (optimum, 30 ºC), at pH 6.0-9.5 (optimum, pH 6.5-7.0) and in the presence
of 1-17 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 6 %). Strictly aerobic.
Isolated from seau-jeot (fermented salted shrimp), a traditional fermented seafood in Korea.

Can utilize as sole carbon source L-arabinose, D-fructose, D-galactose, D-glucose, glycerol, D-mannitol, D-mannose, D-sorbitol, and
sucrose.
In the Biolog GN2 MicroPlate, oxidizes dextrin, glycogen, adonitol, L-arabinose (weakly), D-arabitol,
cellobiose, i-erythritol, D-fructose, D-galactose, alpha-D-glucose, myo-inositol, maltose (weakly), D-mannitol, D-mannose, Dpsicose,
raffinose, D-sorbitol, sucrose, trehalose, turanose, xylitol, pyruvic acid methyl ester, succinic acid monomethyl ester, acetic acid, cis-
aconitic acid, citric acid, alpha-and beta-hydroxybutyric acid, alpha-ketoglutaric acid, DL-lactic acid, succinic acid, bromosuccinic acid,
succinamic acid, L-alaninamide, D-alanine, L-asparagine, L-aspartic acid, L-glutamic acid, glycyl L-glutamic acid, L-alanyl glycine, L-
histidine, L-ornithine, L-proline, L-serine, urocanic acid, thymidine, 2,3-butanediol and glycerol.
Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, casein hydrolysis, citrate utilization, alpha-fucosidase, gelatinase, alpha- and beta-
galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, H2S production, indole production, lipase
(C14), alpha-mannosidase, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, starch hydrolysis, tyrosine hydrolysis, Tweens 20 and 80
hydrolysis, urease, acid production from lactose, and D-mannose.
Does not utilize amygdalin, inositol, lactose, D-mannitol, sucrose, and xylose.
