Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cells, showing a rod–coccus cycle. Non-motile.
Colonies on ISP 2 agar are pale yellow after 3 days, round, smooth and convex. No
diffusible pigment is formed on any of the tested media. Growth occurs at 4-37 ºC,
optimally at 25-28 ºC, pH 5-10 (optimally 7-7.5), and 13 % (w/v) NaCl on ISP 2 agar
(optimally 3%).
Isolated from the roots of healthy Limonium sinense plants collected from Jiangsu Province, China.
Non-pathogenic.

Positive results for arginine hydrolysis, catalase, gelatinase, beta-galactosidase, oxidase, starch hydrolysis,Tween 20, 40 and 80
hydrolysis, utilization of urea, acid production from L-arabinose, cellobiose, D-glucose, melibiose and D-ribose.
Can utilize as sole carbon source L-arabinose, cellobiose, D-fructose, D-glucose, maltose, mannitol, D-mannose, raffinose and
D-rhamnose. Can utilize as sole nitrogen source L-arginine, L-glycine, L-histidine, L-proline, L-serine and L-valine.
Negative results for cellulose hydrolysis, H2S production, acid production from D-galactose, D-fructose, D-mannose, mannitol,
D-lactose and sucrose.
No utilization of D-lactose and D-sorbitol.
