Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci, 0.6-1.0 μm. Endospores are not formed. Nonmotile.
Colonies are pale yellow, circular, opaque, slightly convex, smooth and 1.0 mm in
diameter after 24 h at 37 ºC on modified ISP 5 medium containing 5% NaCl. No
water-soluble exopigment is formed. Grows at 10-37 ºC (optimum at 28-37 ºC), at pH
6.0-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0-8.0) and in the presence of 0-10% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 5%),
No growth at 4 or 45 ºC, above pH 10 or in the presence of 15% NaCl.
Isolated from a saline soil sample collected from Ganjiahu Suosuo Forest National Nature Reserve in Xinjiang Province, China.
