Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci. Nonmotile. Endospores are not formed.
Colonies on TSA, R2A, LB and NA media after 72 h incubation at 30 ºC are yellow,
circular, smooth, 0.5 mm in diameter. Grows in the 5-12 pH range (optimum 8-9).
Tolerates 10% (w/v) NaCl, but grows better without salt. Temperature range for growth
is 15-41 ºC (optimum is 35 ºC). Aerobic.
Isolated from the inner fleshy leaf tissues of Aloe barbadensis (Aloe vera) collected from Pune, Maharashtra, India.

Positive results for acid and alkaline phosphtase, esterase, esterase lipase, catalase, gelatin hydrolysis, alpha-glucosidase, lipase,
leucine arylamidase, protease, valine arylamidase and naphthol-AS- BI- phosphohydrolase.
Can utilize glucose and D-maltose.

Negative results for amylase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-fucosidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase,
beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase, indole production, nitrate reduction, oxidase, Tween-20
hydrolysis (72h), trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin, urease, acid production from glucose.
No assimilation of D-mannose, D-mannitol, potassium gluconate, capric acid, malic acid, phenylacetic acid, L-arabinose,
N-acetylglucosamine, adipic acid, trisodium citrate.
