Gram-positive cocci, 0.6-0.7 μm in diameter. Nonmotile. Endospores are not formed.
Colonies on Luria Bertani agar are circular, entire, smooth, yellow and 0.5-1.0 mm in
diameter. Growth occurs at 20-35 ºC (optimum, 33 ºC), at pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum, pH
7.0) and in the presence of 0-2% NaCl (optimum, 1.0%). No growth at 10 or 42 ºC.
Aerobic.
Isolated from forest soil in Changbai mountains, China.

Description is mostly based on API 50 CH, API ZYM and API 20 NE results.

Positive results for catalase, gelatin hydrolysis, alpha-glucosidase, leucine arylamidase, trypsin, alpha-chymotrypsin (weak), Tween
20 and 80 hydrolysis, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase (weak), valine arylamidase (weak), acid production from maltose, sucrose,
trehalose and turanose.
Can assimilate D-glucose, gluconate (weakly), maltose, adipate, malate, citrate and phenylacetate.

Negative results for arginine dihydrolase, acid and alkaline phosphatase, casein hydrolysis, esculin hydrolysis,esterase (C4),
esterase lipase (C8), alpha-fucosidase, lipase (C14), cystine arylamidase, alpha- and beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase,
beta-glucosidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, indole production, alpha-mannosidase, methyl red test, nitrate reduction, oxidase,
starch hydrolysis, urease, Voges-Proskauer reaction, acid production from glycerol, erythritol , D- and L-arabinose, ribose, L- and
D-xylose, adonitol, galactose, D-fructose , D-mannose, L-sorbose, rhamnose,  dulcitol, inositol, mannitol, D-glucose, sorbitol,
N-acetylglucosamine, amygdalin, arbutin, esculin, salicin, cellobiose, lactose, melibiose, inulin, melezitose, D-raffinose, starch,
glycogen, xylitol, beta-gentiobiose, D-lyxose, D-tagatose, L-fucose, D- and L-arabitol, gluconate, 2- and 5-ketogluconate.
No assimilation of L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine and caprate.
