Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive cocci. Non-motile. Non-spore-forming.
Colonies on TSA medium incubated at 30 ºC for 48 hours are light yellow, smooth,
glossy, circular with entire margins, and 1.0-1.2 mm in diameter. Growth occurs at
10-45 ºC, pH 6-11 and with 0-15% (w/v) NaCl.
Isolated from a rhizosphere soil sample of Reaumuria soongorica found in the desert soils of Fukang, Xinjiang, north-west China.
Sensitive to ampicillin, gentamicin, kanamycin, nalidixic acid, neomycin, streptomycin, tetracycline and vancomycin. Resistant to
cephalosporin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, novobiocin, rifampicin
and roxithromycin.

Positive results for catalase, gelatin liquefaction, oxidase, acid production from esculin, D-galactose, and D-glucose (negative in API
50 CH).
Can utilize D-arabinose, dulcitol, D-fructose, D-galactose, D-glucose, glycerol, maltose, mannose, D-sorbitol, sorbose, starch,
sucrose, trehalose and xylose.

Negative results for H
2S production, methyl red test, nitrate reduction, starch hydrolysis, Tween 20, 40, 60 and 80 hydrolysis,
tryptophan hydrolysis, urease, acid production from fructose, D-lyxose, D-mannitol, mannose, L-rhamnose, sucrose, trehalose,
D-turanose, D-xylose.
No utilization of inositol, alpha-lactose, D-mannitol, raffinose and xylitol.
