Species description is based on a single isolate.
Gram-positive, coccoid to rod-shaped cells. Non-spore forming.
Colonies on TSA, are creamy-whitish to beige, non-translucent, 1-2 mm in diameter.
Good growth occurs on TSA, nutrient agar, PYE agar and blood agar. No growth on
MacConkey agar. Growth is observed at 15-36 °C, weak at 42 °C, not at 10 or 50 °C.
Grows well in a pH range of 6.5-9.5, weak at pH of 5.5, but not at pH of 4.5. Grows well
in TSB supplemented with 0-5% (w/v) NaCl, weak in the presence of 6-8% NaCl, not
at 9% NaCl and above. Aerobic. Growth under anaerobic conditions is weak.
Isolated from exhausted air of a pig barn.

Positive results for catalase, esculin hydrolysis, alpha-galactosidase, nitrate reduction, pyrazinamidase, acid production from
L-arabinose, glucose, sucrose,and trehalose.
Can assimilate L-arabinose, D-fructose, D-galactose, D-glucose, D-mannose, alpha-melibiose, maltose, D-ribose, sucrose,
trehalose, D-adonitol, maltitol, acetate, propionate, trans-aconitate, fumarate, L-malate, DL-lactate, pyruvate, beta-alanine,
L-aspartate, L-ornithine, L-proline and L-serine.
Negative results for gelatinase, alpha-glucosidase, beta-glucuronidase, beta-galactosidase, N-actetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase,
oxidase, pyrolidonyl amidase, urease, acid production from D-arabitol, cellobiose, dulcitol, erythritol, glycogen, inositol, lactose,
mannitol, melibiose, methyl-D-glucoside, rhamnose, ribose, salicin, sorbitol, raffinose, sucrose, and xylose.
No assimilation of N-acetyl-D-galactosamine, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, p-arbutin, cellobiose, D-gluconate, L-rhamnose, salicin,
D-xylose, myo-inositol, D-mannitol, D-sorbitol, putrescine,cis-aconitate, adipate, 4-aminobutyrate, azelate, glutarate, citrate,
DL-3-hydroxybutyrate, itaconate, mesaconate, oxoglutarate, suberate, L-alanine, L-leucine, L-phenylalanine, L-tryptophane,
3-hydroxybenzoate, 4-hydroxybenzoate and phenylacetate.
Variable results for acid production from maltose and xylose.
